FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

OUR PROFESSIONALS

What's the difference between a BSL Interpreter and a Communication Support Worker (CSW)?

Communication Support Workers (CSWs) provide essential communication and learning support, particularly within educational settings. While interpreters facilitate linguistic interpretation between spoken English and BSL, and vice versa, CSWs focus on supporting understanding, adapting materials and reinforcing learning to help Deaf students access education with confidence.

BSL Interpreters facilitate real-time interpretation between British Sign Language and spoken English, ensuring that meaning, tone and context are conveyed accurately for all parties. Translators work with written and recorded content from documents and scripts to video or digital media, producing high-quality translations that respect linguistic and cultural nuance.

Yes. All interpreters we work with are qualified, experienced and registered with the NRCPD or equivalent governing body. They will either hold a trainee or registered status.

BOOKING & CANCELLATIONS

How do I book a BSL Interpreter, and how much notice should I give?

You can book by email or through our online form on the contact page. We recommend providing as much notice as possible to ensure the best match, especially for theatre, education or high-profile events. Last-minute bookings may incur higher fees.

Cancellation terms vary depending on the service being booked. For BSL interpreting bookings, cancellations made with 7 days or less notice may be charged at the full fee; 8 to 14 days’ notice may be charged at half fee; and 15 or more days’ notice will usually incur no fee. Other services, such as notetaking or Communication Support Worker provision, may have different cancellation periods, so please contact us for the terms that apply to your booking.
